When You Need Proof

After Jesus rose from the dead, he appeared to some of his disciples. Thomas, one of the disciples, wasn’t there though. So when the disciples said they had seen him, he said he needed proof. Thomas wanted to actually put his finger into the print of the nails to really believe. Eight days later, Jesus showed up again. Check this out. 

John 20:27-29 
Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing." And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Listen. Jesus didn’t scold Thomas for wanting to believe. I truly believe Thomas wanted to but needed some proof. He wasn’t just going to take someone’s word for it. He wanted to experience it. Others had an experience. He needed one to truly believe. 

If you aren’t sure about Jesus and you need your own experience, ask Him for one. Jesus wants to encounter you. He wants to bring new life to you and give you belief in the place of unbelief. There’s nothing wrong with wanting your own experience, with wanting your own encounter to solidify your beliefs. 


Ask Him. Ask God to make Himself real to you. He WILL show up in your life.

The thought occurred to me today.   What if Jesus meant what He said? He said a lot.   A whole lot. And if He is God, then we should listen to what He said. If He is our Lord, then we should listen to what He said. Ezekiel 14:12-23

I read this passage last night. I have seen a verse or two about it... but the entirety of it gripped me when I read it. I had never thought about it as a principle. "When a land sins against Me by persistent unfaithfulness..." Then I was blown away by the men God used as examples. Noah, Daniel, Job. Men whose lives have a tremendous impact on the end-time saints. To be the only ones delivered in your righteousness. What was it like to watch an entire culture that God was not pleased with and see his judgment poured out accordingly. Righteous men - Noah, Daniel, Job - who stood, even when they stood alone. And yes, all three of those men, stood in their righteousness alone. They all faced scoffing and hatred of them. There are lessons in all of these men's lives. God judges nations.
