Out of Season?

It’s that time of year again. The time of year when azaleas bloom and Japanese magnolia trees bloom, and everything comes to life again. The high temperature for the day is 70-something degrees, and it feels like the perfect springtime day. It’s that time… that time… except for the fact that this is the end of January???? Don’t get me wrong. I’m loving the weather. But it would feel more appropriate if it were March or April – not January.

Out of season.
Have you ever felt out of season?

There are times that God will take certain people and call them to be forerunners, and they will appear out of season. They may even feel out of season. They may be doing things and speaking things that just don’t seem like what everyone else is saying or doing – or may not seem like what is typical of the time.

But let me go back to our weather comparison for a minute.
It’s January. But suddenly, instead of waiting for spring, I am now craving spring. I am longing for that amazing weather. I am ready for it. I’m ready for days at the park and wind to fly kites. I am ready for the perfect beach weather before it gets too hot. I have tasted spring and I’m excited for it and will be looking for it until it is here. If I hadn’t been tasting it these past couple of weeks, it would still feel like a far off, distant dream.

Sometimes, God sends people ahead of the time, the season, to draw others in around them. To proclaim a message loudly so that when the season comes for everyone, that they have been prepared and are ready to receive the message. They may even do things that seem crazy to everyone else but in a matter of time, those crazy actions make more sense to the people.

Ahead of time. Preparing the way. Preparing hearts.

If you are a forerunner and you feel out of season, take heart.

Not everyone likes an early spring or a preview of spring. Some people much prefer the cold weather – after all, that is what season we are in. But God alone controls the weather and when He chooses He shifts things “out of season” for His purposes, that is His prerogative to do so.

All you can do, as a forerunner, is to continue speaking, continue walking out, what He has called you to do. It may seem crazy. It may seem out of the ordinary pattern. But rest assured, you are in good company. There is a great cloud of witnesses filled with forerunners cheering you on. Elijah, John the Baptist, and more. This kind usher in new seasons. But often times, their ushering in that new season in the current season seems out of season to others.

If you are a forerunner and God has called you to this unique lifestyle, embrace it. You are preparing others for seasons that have yet to arrive.

What if Jesus meant what He said? - "If you love me..."

The thought occurred to me today.   What if Jesus meant what He said? He said a lot.   A whole lot. And if He is God, then we should listen to what He said. If He is our Lord, then we should listen to what He said. I want to go on a journey of exploring what He said.   He is the Word and He is God.   I think what He said is worth exploring and worth living by.   The first thing I want to look at is in John 14.   This will give the premise for the entire journey of seeking out what Jesus said.   Because if Jesus meant this… then the rest of what He said is VERY important. Jhn 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments.” Jhn 14:21 "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." Jhn 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come ...

A thought

There are easy days. And then there are difficult days. This is my reassurance: God is constant and He is always faithful. “If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.” – 2 Timothy 2:13

Ezekiel 14:12-23

I read this passage last night. I have seen a verse or two about it... but the entirety of it gripped me when I read it. I had never thought about it as a principle. "When a land sins against Me by persistent unfaithfulness..." Then I was blown away by the men God used as examples. Noah, Daniel, Job. Men whose lives have a tremendous impact on the end-time saints. To be the only ones delivered in your righteousness. What was it like to watch an entire culture that God was not pleased with and see his judgment poured out accordingly. Righteous men - Noah, Daniel, Job - who stood, even when they stood alone. And yes, all three of those men, stood in their righteousness alone. They all faced scoffing and hatred of them. There are lessons in all of these men's lives. God judges nations. He judges lands that sin against the Lord in persistent unfaithfulness. But there are righteous ones in the midst of judgment. Eze 14:12-23 The word of the LORD came again to me...
