Once upon a time there was a kingdom. This kingdom had a King, and many residents of the land. The job of the residents was to build the kingdom. Build castles, recruit other residents from other lands, take care of the land, etc.
Depending on the productivity of each resident, they were rewarded for their work.
Amazingly, the residents could have any supplies they needed to get the job done! There was only one catch... They had to ask the King for the supplies.
If I could describe to you the scene of this kingdom, you'd be shocked. Buildings were only half done, barely started really. Recruiting had gone way down. The land was overgrown with weeds and in terrible condition.
Was it due to lack if supplies? No! There were entire regions filled with supplies, workers, and storehouses.
The problem? Not many residents had asked the King for supplies to complete their work. Which also meant not many people were getting rewarded.
The reason? Excuses after excuse.
"I don't think the rewards really exist. Why would I waste my time?"
"I hate to bother the King. After all, He's a busy guy. Why would He want to hear from me."
"I'm not sure about those supplies. I asked one time and only got enough to finish a day's worth of work. I don't think He has enough to finish the job."
"I don't feel like asking. That takes effort."
"I don't feel like working."
"Who needs rewards. I'll just sit here and enjoy the sunshine."
In the end, the King rewarded those who had the courage and boldness to ask. After all, it was His kingdom they were building... His land... His buildings... His residents and recruits. At that day of reward, there were many tears. Few had taken full advantage of the deal the King had made with His residents. Many had excuses. And that many were empty handed without reward, for they had not asked for the King's help in building His kingdom.
