Isa 59:15b - …Then the LORD saw [it], and it displeased Him That [there was] no justice.
Isa 59:16 - He saw that [there was] no man, And wondered that [there was] no intercessor; Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; And His own righteousness, it sustained Him.
Isa 59:19 - So shall they fear The name of the LORD from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.
I stood watching during the altar time of our Wednesday night service. Russ and the praise team sang, “Make us a generation that will change our nation.” Up at the front were kids who had come down to pray and worship. They were there either because they were called down or because they wanted to. Once parents began coming in, and kids saw they were dismissed, the number up front began to dwindle. I looked up and realized the kids up front were in a straight line in front of the stage, for the length of the stage. They had formed a wall. It reminded me of the Justice House of Prayer in Washington, DC and Bound4LIFE when they stand in a straight line to form a “wall.” More than anything, they reminded me of Isaiah 59:19. When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.
I was seeing a wall. I was seeing a standard of righteousness standing against the enemy. A standard that the Lord raises up even when the enemy is flooding down. Those who will stand even when no one else does. Even when it won’t be popular. Even if it may cost you your life.
I was curious to watch and see if the number on the “wall” would get down to 1 and if that 1 would stand alone. It got down to 6—and then to 4—and then to 3—to 2—and then the band stopped playing and the two middle-schoolers left standing realized it must be time to stop, so they walked away. The only reason I call them out as middle-schoolers is because I was so impressed that the youngest ones seemed to have such deep hunger. More important than if you will stand alone for God at church is if you will stand alone for God in your daily life. Will you stand alone at school? Will you stand alone if everyone else bows to an idol? (Remember Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego?) Will you stand alone even if you face lions, or a furnace, or getting your head cut off?
Choose to be that standard. Choose to be that intercessor. Choose to stand for justice and righteousness.
Sunday, I watched dozens of children sing,
I will put my life on the line. I won’t bow to anyone but Jesus.
Give me faith. Give me faith to trust.
Would you sing that? And would you mean it if you did?
Eph 6:13 NKJV - Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
